I eventually installed MySQL 5.7 in "fast" mode, which seems to work. I wanted to install a newer MySQL version, but I only use database for a few small websites, so version 5.7 will do fine.
aaPanel_Kern Hello, please check the installation log to see what went wrong. /tmp/panelExec.log
I did check, the file is 678kb
and a bit hard to see exactly what went wrong. I can only guess it's related to latest Nginx and Ubuntu. I did try several different server panels, and aapanel seems very suitable to my requirements 👍️ Yesterday, I installed the "marketplace" LNMP version on Vultr for testing, which installed nicely with Ubuntu, Nginx and MySQL. However, today I decided to set up a production server with latest versions of Ubuntu 24.04 and Nginx 1.26 manually with the aapanel install script, and this seems less stable. The installer script asked to install mysql, but it didn't, and then when trying to install DB from the panel, it seems to work randomly, sometimes warnings "requires two cores", and only with "fast" install.
I must admit, I lost a bit of confidence in aapanel when things don't seem to work as intended. The reason I am using a panel in the first place, is because my knowledge is limited and I want the panel to manage the stuff that I don't understand. It would be better to force the user to use certain tested installation combo's, and/or precompiled "marketplace" apps, instead of allowing the user to get tangled up in flaws.
I still really like aapanel 👏 but will create a new server and use Vultr marketplace app, as that seems stable, although it's not the latest version of Ubuntu or Nginx. PS! What is the difference between the two marketplace apps? One is just the panel without any apps, while the other comes with Nginx, PHP and mysql preinstalled?
Many thanks! 🙏
