Hi,

Can someone assist me with setting up properly DNS Server in AApanel?

Is it possible to have in aapanel NS records like in cpanel?
My cpanel runs now 2 NS dns1.uhlhosting.ch and dns2.uhlhosting.ch . Thus making every domain provider point to my custom DNS servers in Cpanel.

Is the same config possible in aapanel? I have checked documentation is nothing about DNS Server.

Would be helpfull to add a guide on setting up NS records fully with AAPanel, i would do my best to promote aapanel, since also cpanel and plesk have a big market share, aapanel has potential they do not have and are far from getting.

I want to add for example domain uhl.agency to my new aapanel instance, now is hosted on cpanel with their DNS system under dns1/dns2.uhlhosting.ch.

Domain is bought on namecheap where it forwards it to my custom DNS in cpanel.

Now the question would be, what is best procedure let's say to fully move this domain out of cpanel, can this be possible since I have not seen any docs on DNS configuration or clustering of such in aapanel.

Another suggestion would be usefull to add a NAT 1:1 interface where user can map the PUBLIC ip to the LOCAL ip. This is helpful for websites and apps that can work both on public and private IPs.
Here is something from how its made in cpanel:

We are using PFSense to manage the NAT, and until now aapanel seems to work just great!

There are only a few issues I have noticed:

  • when adding an extra IP, the ip entry is created if checked via cli, yet on the webpage is still loading like:

Sometimes it results in this error in Firefox:

An error occurred during a connection to dash.uhlhosting.ch:11111. PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR

  • Another issue would be with the timezone settings, it seems every time I go and. update it to Europe/Zurich, when returning back to the setting will show:

instead of the timezone previously set.

It's very simple, just specify the ip recorded by ns on your domain name provider to the server where aaPanel is located, and then fill this ns1.domain.com into the dns manager.

    1. I will arrange time tomorrow to write a complete tutorial on the use of DNS
    2. nat function we will consider adding
    3. This error in Firefox seems to be an error when the browser does not receive the data returned by your website. Please check if your port or network is normal
    4. There have been feedbacks from several users about the time zone issue, but I did not reproduce it on the test server. What is the Linux distribution you are using? Let me test it again

      Hi,

at first we used Centos 7 latest cloud image version and later had moved to Centos 8 havent figured out yet if its identical in Centos 8 with 7. Today will continue the aapanel journey, will provide here feedback on all that i find.

looking to see the dns docs, really want to add proper setup to have a domain out without the need to change local hosts.

at the moment i use in etc hosts the public ip of aapanel to access the testing site i have.

i have tested the one click migration its working great, there could be some smart improvments for example if the second server has a missing php version maybe could be trigered to install it not only warn the user to manual install rather allow him to push a button or decide to do so.

      best,
      Cosmin

aaPanel_Jose well thats not quite correct, because that value its 600 for me, and the only place the value was 86400 I changed it to the above values, yet its not reflected in DNS changes. If you look at my test above, it should have had 600 by now, thats not the case. There is a issue with DNS manager.

      Check this

With the above context the test should not invalidate or show that my SOA records are 86400. Would be great to add option to modify SOA values.

        Any ETA on this?

Please note the following DNS records are a must for web hosting standards and compliance:

        • SOA Editing

        • CAA records

        • DMARC records

aaPanel_Jose seems the 0 is valid yet not the right format, and this format should increment based on the changes made on dns.
          SOA Number Format
NOTICE: Although your serial is valid [0], it's not using recommended serial number format YYYYMMDDnn, where YYYY is four-digit year number, MM is the month, DD is the day and nn is the sequence number in case zone file is updated more than once per day.
