nginx free WAF error while using nginx 1.23 & 1.24

When I install nginx free WAF , nginx automatically stops and can not start again. When I try to start again i get error as attached. This issue is when I install nginx 1.23 or 1.24, and as soon as I install free WAF, nginx stops working. No issue with 1.22 and 1.21
So I had to install nginx 1.21 and currently using it.
I tried to comment out the line lua_package_path directive in free_waf.conf which inturn lead to a few other lua related errors

Hello, the lua version of nginx 1.23 and above has been revised
nginx free firewall still uses the old version, it is recommended to use 1.22 or lower
Please wait for third-party plug-in developers to fix it

It is recommended that you describe the problem in detail.
If nginx is 1.20, try reinstalling nginx with compile mode
